Certifications

All four Gaspé Cured processing plants operate under Canadian federal, provincial and international standards. Our reputation is based the consistency of high-quality products we deliver. The following is a list of our quality management and safety certifications:

Quality Management Program (QMP): Set up and run by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), the QMP program-one of the toughest in the world- is a regulatory-based system that requires all federally registered fish processing plants in Canada to develop and implement an in-plant quality control program. QMP meets U.S. FDA regulations and European Union standards.

Hazard analysis and critical control points (HACCP): is a systematic preventive approach food safety that addresses physical, chemical and biological hazards as a means of prevention rather than finished product inspection. HACCP is used in the food industry to identify potential food safety hazards, so that key actions can be taken to reduce or eliminate the risk of the hazards being realized.

British Retail Concil Certification (BRC): Our manufacturer, Poisson Salé Gaspésien (PSG), has obtained the BRC certification in 2016 for lobster processing.

The BRC Global Standard for Food Safety is developed by food industry experts from retailers, manufacturers and food service organisations to ensure it is rigorous and detailed, yet easy to understand.First published in 1998, the Standard is now in its seventh issue and is well-established globally. It has evolved with input from many leading global specifiers. It provides a framework to manage product safety, integrity, legality and quality, and the operational controls for these criteria in the food and food ingredient manufacturing, processing and packing industry.

Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism program:

C-TPAT is a voluntary U.S. government-business initiative that builds cooperative relationships that strengthen and improve overall international supply chain and U.S. border security. C-TPAT is widely recognized as one of the most effective means of providing the highest level of cargo security through close cooperation with international supply chain businesses such as importers, carriers, consolidators, licensed customs brokers, and manufacturers. Through this initiative, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is asking businesses to ensure the integrity of their security practices and communicate and verify the security guidelines of their business partners within the supply chain.
